A Day at the Health Fair
I went to the Health fair at Iglesia Ni Cristo. When I arrived, I was greeted with smiles and familiar faces. I spent the first few minutes getting acquainted with my friends, signing in, and exploring the different booths.
Soon enough a presentation was starting inside the church. The presentation covered the topic of reckless driving and it was presented by a CHP officer. The officer played us a 5 minute video of a huge 5 car pile on that happened in the freeway. The whole accident could have been prevented if the drivers of the cars were practicing safe driving techniques. I learned a lot from that presentation and I even got a lanyard!
Later, another presentation began. It was about the H1N1 flu. We learned a lot of facts like the H1N1 is not the swine flu. The swine flu is only in pigs. We also learned that the H1N1 flu is as dangerous as the regular flu, and that it requires a separate vaccine to prevent it. We also learned some good habits to prevent the virus from getting spread.
After the 2 presentations were over, we had time to hang out, eat, and learn from the booths. I overheard something about firefighters coming so I grabbed my camera and ran over to see what was going on. The firefighters were paying us a visit to talk. They even brought their engine!
Once the firefighters had arrived they talked to us about their job, safety, and their heavy heavy equipment. I took tons of pictures, so just ask me and I’ll give you some. After the firefighters explained all they needed to explain they let us take pictures with them and their engine. I actually got a picture with one of them!
So all in all, the Health Fair was a very fun, exciting, and informative event to go to.

HomeComing and More
I am told that there is a homecoming game today. I hope we win. Well since I’m sick I didn’t attend. Some of my friends are sick too, so I hope they don’t plan on going to the dance. There’s too many people and it is just too cold.
Well, I bought a better camera than the one I have. My mom isn’t letting me take it to school… but i guess that’s ok. I haven’t had a chance to use it much. I got it to take pictures of the clubs and of my friends so I can remember them when some graduate.
Even though I am sick, I am feeling much better and I thank all of those that wished and had high hopes for me. It wasn’t that bad, it was one of those 3 day sicknesses.
So, in summary even though I missed a lot in school, suffered for 3 days, and missed a dance… I am feeling really good. Thats all I have to say about that.
My goal is still to do all that I can do in my life as a person, as a student, and as a son. Doing nothing and wasting time, now feels… well like a waste of time.

Walk For Hope
Okay, Walk for hope is this Saturday October 25, 2009. I can offer a few rides. The registration is 25 dollars online by credit card. We need people to register under the “MAKE A DIFFERENCE” club.
You can’t use a credit card? You can buy a debit card at most stores for 25 dollars with a 5 dollar activation fee. This seems like a lot of money since it does not include donations…. but come on, it is to support the fight against cancer. We will meet up at the school and from there we will go to the santa anita race track for parking. There will be shuttles taking us to City of Hope. Since parking opens at 7 am, we should be there at 6:50 so we should meet at school around 6:00- 6:20.
questions?? aim me, facebook me, or comment, or text me.
My experience at AIDS WALK.
Today I woke at 2 am to prepare myself for a day of walking and volunteering. Around 3:45 I was all set, my mom drove me to pick up a friend and then she dropped us off at the school.
Arriving at school there was already quite a few people (like 8, but more than i expected). As time went by, more and more people came, and our awesome president Shirley Lam, talked to the parents who dropped off their kids and she handled the crowd that was forming.
It was soo foggy that morning, and it became an eerie standing there at 4:30 in the dark. Soon the bus arrived, and all of us went in one by one. A lot of other students drove with their friends or parents. But we actually had some room to spare on the bus. The trip to West Hollywood was fun, and relaxing. It was cold but that didn’t stop anyone from being excited.
We were actually very early to AIDS WALK. Since I was with the ASSEMBLY group we began to help immediately. We made trash cans out of flat boxes, set up tables, put out food, distributed trash cans, and squished boxes. After almost all the set up was complete, we signed in. I got a t shirt and a bagel during the registration.
The sun finally came up. Since so many volunteers showed up, there was a lot of time to spare. So I took a walk around the city. I walked for an hour exploring all the streets shops and building in a 2 mile radius. At last the walk was about to begin. I made it back from my own walk just in time. It was a hassle finding my group but with a few phone calls I located them.
One of my friends needed to go to the rest room, so we walked half a mile to CVS pharmacy, where I knew there had to be clean restrooms. We walked back but we couldn’t find our group again so we decided to go on by our selves. We walked, talked, and enjoyed all of the people, buildings, and FREE FOOD that there was in that city. Near the begining there was some guys (hairy bikers) protesting against the homo sexual way of life. There was only like 7 of them holding signs, so nothing too crazy happened.
At the 2 mile mark, it was only me and Brian Kit. We walked until he began to race Lloyd. Then I ended up with Allan (or Allen) and his friend. It was really fun. Near the end, I was very tired but what kept me going was the feeling of satisfaction I would get when i crossed the finish line. I crossed the finish line, got a certificate, and about 20 cow girls gave me a high five. It was a fantastic experience. I can’t write about the entire thin, but this was a summary.
If you didn’t go this year, GO NEXT YEAR! It was the funnest event ever.
The picture above is the first look of the finish line the first time i saw it.
